Drypoint Printmaking on Plexiglass with Tony Ortega
Saturday & Sunday, January 31 & February 1
10 AM - 2 PM
$150
Loveland Museum
503 N. Lincoln, Loveland, CO, 80537
Discover the expressive possibilities of drypoint printmaking in this hands-on, two-day workshop led by Denver-based artist and educator Tony Ortega. Drypoint on plexiglass is an intaglio process where lines are scratched directly into a plate to hold ink. Participants will prepare a plexiglass plate, explore mark-making, learn to ink and wipe the plate, and print on damp paper—gaining an understanding of burr, line quality, and how pressure brings an image to life.
Guided by Ortega, whose work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and is held in major museum collections, students will deepen their appreciation for this tactile printmaking technique while developing their own creative voice. (Note: Two-day workshop: January 31 and Feb 1).

Historic Tour of Burr House
At the Denver Woman's Press Club
Saturday & Sunday, March 14 & 15
10 AM - 4 PM
FREE to attend
1325 Logan St., Denver, CO 80203
George Elbert Burr is considered one of the finest of the early 20th-century American printmakers and is best known for his copperplate etchings of the desert and mountain regions of Arizona and Colorado. Burr’s prints are displayed in a number of prominent collections, including the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, and the Congressional Library in Washington, D.C.
In 1906 he moved to Denver, Colorado. In 1910 he built a brick house and studio at 1325 Logan Street in Denver was purchased by The Denver Woman’s Press Club (DWPC) in 1924.
The DWPC is still going strong and invites you to visit this historic building to see where Burr lived and worked. Tour the space, see photos of his printing studio and view 19 of his original paintings and etchings, still owned by the club.
https://dwpconline.org/events/historic-tour-burr-house/
BRIEF HISTORY
Burr moved to Denver for his health and built this house in as a combination studio and home. He lived here with his wife until he sold it to the DWPC. The Club purchased the house for $9,000, raising funds through a series of pageants, social activities, and society balls. Inside the house, a large library of member-authored books, historical photos, and artifacts tell the story of the club’s colorful past over the last century.
The home has been restored over the years through grants from the Colorado State Historical Fund, the El Pomar, and Kenneth Kendal King foundations, and with contributions from DWPC members.
In 1968 the house was designated a Denver landmark, and in 1995 it was placed in the State Register of Historic Properties. In 1986 and in 1995 consideration was given to selling the land and moving the house, but club members determined to preserve the building on its original site, where it stands today as a small historic island in a sea of asphalt parking lots.
The DWPC was founded in 1898, is one of the oldest women’s press clubs in the nation. But we’re far from old-fashioned! Our more than 150 members are professional writers all—including journalists, novelists, magazine editors, essayists, freelance writers, poets, historians, and corporate and mass communications specialists.

Human Tapestry is a free, hands-on art demo where anyone can stop by and try printmaking without a press, no experience needed. Using gel plates and nontoxic inks, participants cut out a human shape, ink a plate, and make a print. Each figure is added to a large shared piece of fabric, slowly building one community artwork made by many different hands. Visitors can come and go at their own pace and take part for just a few minutes or stay longer.
This activity is open to all ages and focuses on curiosity and trying something new, not perfection. Kids, adults, and families are welcome to experiment together. April 25, 2026, 12–5pm, People’s Building, Aurora. Part of Mo'Print 2026 Art Demo Events. No registration required.
