Discover the expressive possibilities of drypoint printmaking in this hands-on, two-day workshop led by Denver-based artist and educator Tony Ortega. Drypoint on plexiglass is an intaglio process where lines are scratched directly into a plate to hold ink. Participants will prepare a plexiglass plate, explore mark-making, learn to ink and wipe the plate, and print on damp paper—gaining an understanding of burr, line quality, and how pressure brings an image to life.

Guided by Ortega, whose work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and is held in major museum collections, students will deepen their appreciation for this tactile printmaking technique while developing their own creative voice. (Note: Two-day workshop: January 31 and Feb 1).

Using the exhibition Xochimilco: Works by Eduardo Robledo Romero as inspiration, explore design elements that make linocut printmaking fun, beautiful and bold, no matter your skill level. Over the course of three weeks (Feb. 1, 8 and 15), learn the steps to produce a small print edition, from paper selection to inking blended colors.

Discover the playful side of produce in this hands-on vegetable printmaking drop-in activity. Inspired by the V for Vegetable exhibit, participants of all ages will explore how everyday fruits and vegetables can become unexpected artistic tools. Drop in anytime during the session to experiment with carving simple shapes, inking cut vegetables, and pressing colorful prints onto paper. Educators will be on hand to guide techniques, share insights from the exhibit, and help you create your own take-home artwork. Takes place during Loveland's Night on the Town.

Exploring personal history through photopolymer plate can be insightful. We will use a photo from your collection (hardcopy or digital file) to make a polymer plate and will encourage you to express yourself through various printing techniques.

All materials will be provided by the Colorado College Art Department. Free and Open to the public.

Adults with disabilities and their allies are invited to participate in this one-time adaptive relief printing workshop. Participants will be introduced to printmaking through adaptive explanations and processes. Each participant is encouraged to create an edition of three prints during the workshop. Students will have the opportunity to create a collagraph or relief print block of their choice to print.

Pay what you wish; if money is an issue, please attend and do not feel pressure to pay. Registration is highly limited and required. Workshops take place at 10:00 a.m. on the second Wednesday in January, February, and March. Further details upon registration.

Join us for an open Artist Peer Critique in partnership with the printmaking exhibition on display at DAVA during Mo Print 2026.

(APC) meetings are casual monthly gatherings that focus on current projects, any questions that each person is seeking multiple insights to, or whatever will help make your project stronger. Gatherings follow a simple critique model that is driven by an "essential question" by each artist. The artist asks a question to the group to guide them in providing feedback that meets their creative needs.

Carol Till will demonstrate techniques for creating a printing plate from recycled oat milk cartons. Please note, venue is located on 2nd floor and access is via stairs only.

Join Julie Lapping Rivera for an immersive workshop exploring the art of portraiture through woodblock printing. Thinking broadly about the theme, participants are invited to consider what kind of portrait they might want to create: a self-portrait, someone you admire, an animal, an object symbolizing a person, a place, or an abstract interpretation. Attendees are encouraged to bring a 6 inch by 8 inch drawing (or drawings) ready to transfer to the block, and will learn techniques to transform their ideas into expressive woodcut prints. Bring a lunch to eat during a break, and also explore Julie’s exhibit at the Museum, with a quick artist-led tour.

Learn to create unique, one-of-a-kind prints using plants, stencils, and non-toxic color inks. Participants will experiment with layering leaves, flowers, and other organic materials, transferring their shapes and texture to paper, utilizing the printing press. Finishing techniques, such as enhancing prints with mixed media like pastels, watercolor, or collage, will be discussed and demonstrated if time permits.

This hands-on workshop introduces participants to Tetra Pak intaglio printmaking using larger plate sizes than typically offered in introductory classes. Led by Fort Collins-based printmaker Liz Ortiz, participants will learn how to transform recycled Tetra Pak cartons into intaglio printing plates and produce expressive prints using a professional press.

The workshop will cover plate preparation, mark making, inking, and printing techniques, with an emphasis on working at a larger scale. Participants will create a 6” x 9” plate and print on paper sized up to 9” x 12”, allowing for greater detail and compositional freedom.

All materials are provided, and no prior printmaking experience is required. This workshop is ideal for beginners looking to explore intaglio printmaking as well as returning participants interested in expanding their scale and technique.

The mat collagraph is a highly-versatile, accessible art substrate created from simple materials. With rich lines and deep tonal texture, the medium has something to offer all levels of printmaking without the chemicals or expense associated with many classical printmaking mediums. Over the course of three Tuesday nights, our small group will explore imagery using reclaimed materials and further our understanding of intaglio-style plate preparation, inking, and printing.

While this process has roots in photography, we will be working with found objects and plants to create cyan-blue "prints" using light from the sun. These small flag-sized prints will then be attached within the hard-bound covers of the flag book—a movable, sculptural, animated interpretation of book form.

Human Tapestry is a free, hands-on art demo where anyone can stop by and try printmaking without a press, no experience needed. Using gel plates and nontoxic inks, participants cut out a human shape, ink a plate, and make a print. Each figure is added to a large shared piece of fabric, slowly building one community artwork made by many different hands. Visitors can come and go at their own pace and take part for just a few minutes or stay longer.

This activity is open to all ages and focuses on curiosity and trying something new, not perfection. Kids, adults, and families are welcome to experiment together. April 25, 2026, 12–5pm, People’s Building, Aurora. Part of Mo'Print 2026 Art Demo Events. No registration required.

Discover the user-friendly, fun and intuitive gelatin plate printing process. Create unique botanical prints with acrylic paint and plant materials, using a “gelli plate” to transfer natural shapes and textures onto a variety of papers.
